When Jesus said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." (KJV)
(GWT)
"Always do for other people everything you want them to do for you. That is [the meaning of] Moses' Teachings and the Prophets.
He was speaking to those still under the Mosaic law and the Prophets.
After Christ's death, resurrection and ascention, the Holy Spirit was poured out on all flesh (that would receive Him) and showed us things to come. What was to come was the teaching of Spirit filled Prophets of God that taught that Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic law and the Prophets and brought us to the deeper understanding of Christ in us, our hope of glory.
Colossians 1:27 (NIV)
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
(KJV)
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
We are the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 12: (NIV)
12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
(KJV)
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:26 (NIV)
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
(KJV)
And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
So now we can translate the verse: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
into "Do unto others as you would do to Christ."
Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

for if righteousness comes through
the law, then Christ died for nothing! Galatians 2:21194
