I am wondering what a boycott will accomplish. I feel to a degree that all it will do is show that they are to a degree correct in saying that Christians are motivated by hate. I am not agreeing with what they are doing, but at the same time, I have to ask. Are we acting as Christ would do and approach this in a different manner. For instance, I talk with a lot of folks in the secular world, and they all tell me that they are sick of Christians feeling or portraying a holier than thou persona. As if we do not commit sins ourselves. Yes, McDonalds is wrong in supporting the homosexual world. Will we demonstrate better to them if we boycott. Something that I found out a few years back, was, when Marilyn Manson held a concert in Minn. he was BLOWN AWAY and could not go on doing concerts for about 6 months from the story that I got. The story is that instead of being confronted by the usual MAD MOB of Christians opposing his concerts, a local church youth group set out to the location he was doing the concert and instead of protesting the existence of Manson and his fans, they ordered a bunch of pizzas and sodas, took them out to the folks waiting in line for the concert and also prayed with those wishing for prayer. Manson, who was against Orthodox Christianity, stopped his tour for the 6 month stint, saying that the reason he could not go on, was that, that was the very first time he had witnessed CHRISTIANS being Christ like. Loving instead of snarling and showing teeth like a vicious dog wanting to attack. So, I am wondering if doing the boycott won't just give fuel to the fire and prove McDonald's point, that Christians are fueled by hate and not the Christ like love that we claim to operate with. Like I said, I do not agree with what is going on out there with a lot of the evil. But at the same time, as Christian (and pastors for that matter) we need to pray really hard and look at this thing with Christ's eyes and not allow Satan to sneak in the situation like the thieving snake he is. We as sheppards need to set the example and not let Satan get us ralled all up. Christ has to show in our every move. And I somehow do not feel Christ working in this matter. I feel it is our human side and not our Christ like heart side of that is taking over in this.
I can remember when I was told years back about a boycott that was being done BY Christians against Proctor and Gamble because the owner of P & G stated that he would donate a huge percentage of the companies earnings to the Satanic Church he was with. Look what good that did boycotting P & G. They still do what they do and no-one felt a single blow to the economy about it. Yes, we can be mad and hurt all we want, but will boycotting do anything to get their attention, or would US Christians do more impact by a different more loving Christ like approach. That is all I have for now. I am just a little concerned about where the church as a whole is heading, especially when the secular society sees a holier than thou approach out of each one of us.
