My mothers maiden name was Banks - from Cork -
Her grandfathers (Alexander) family moved down from N.Ireland with a general migration of mill workers - it was a topical thing to do - prior to that the Banks family were from Motherwell (or nearby) - If I'm right that would be three generations ago they came over from Motherwell - say about 1880/1900 ?
My mothers cousin in Cork (who I need to contact)has done all the leg work in tracing the Banks from Cork back to Scotland - I was born and raised in Coventry - now live in York
