I was just in your exact position. I run a small equine photography business to help pay for college, and when my Nikon SLR was stolen I made the switch to digital. I was looking at the same two DSLR's and read ALOT about them as well as tried them both out. I found that the Nikon D70 essentially is just a newer, faster, version of the D100 and that it was basically remodeled and targeted as a competitor of the Cannon Rebel. I have always prefered the feel of a Nikon to that of a Cannon (with no real reason) and so went for the D70. I could not be happier! I love the camera, digital is amazing, and if you are comfortable with an SLR the DSLRs are very similar. Goodluck in your search!
