The trick of getting away from 'FLAT" pictures
is to understand 'depth of field'.
Try this trick; Set your cameras 'F' stop to the
largest opening that your cameras shutter speed will allow. (If you are shooting outside in
sunlight etc. buy film that has a low ISO '25'or'50'will do.) This will give you a 'shallow' depth of field. Your focused images will 'pop'leaving the background slightly out of focus. Using a telephoto lens enhances the effect.
