Posted by Jennifer Jacula I received my Rebel 2000 shortly before Christmas (thanks, hubby!) and I LOVE it. It is my first SLR as well, I've only shot a few rolls on it (hey, it's winter, and it's COLD!), but what I have shot, I'm VERY happy with. The shutter speed and all the options are very cool, I'm still learning what they all mean, but it's fun! I can definitely see the difference in quality between my little point and shoots (I have a Canon SureShot as well as an ancient Minolta Hi-matic, which takes surprisingly good photos, but has no zoom) and my new camera. I would definitely recommend the Rebel 2000. I tried a few other similar models, but the 2000 really felt good in my small, girly hands. I'm going lens shopping this weekend, looking for a 70-200 or 70-300. The other nice thing is that the lenses are all the EF mount, so it is pretty easy to find used ones to buy, and if you decide to upgrade at some point to a different Canon camera, you can use the same lenses (provided the second camera also has the EF mount), so it's more of an investment than an expense. Well, I've exhausted my minute expertise for the day. *whew* Jenn
