I didn't realize that you weren't reducing calories ~ or am I not understanding that correctly from what you wrote? I thought you were, with the changes in what you were eating, guess I missed something? I guess I go by the 'old school of thought' haha. I have heard for years that it is a simple ratio of calories in to calories burned, that there is no magic to it. I have seen Terry succeed at it for many years now - gosh, must be over 10 years now - his weight never changes anymore. He took the weight off, by cutting calories and eating better choices of food and then once it came off he has maintained it all these years. He will eat anything, he just abides by 'moderation is key' and is perfectly happy with the way he eats. He really omits nothing, he just doesn't overindulge. For me, I took off 15 pounds from mid Oct to just before Christmas, so that is just about the rate I believe is recommended, to lose safely. AND what has amazed me most is that with increasing my calories/portions and even having some sweets and some fatty foods since Christmas, I have NOT gained any back What I am wondering/thinking about the metabolism thing is that if one eats small portions THROUGHOUT the day, one's metablism is possibly not being altered that much, by not having severe drops and rises in blood sugar that way. I do much better on small portions - so does my intestinal problems, eating bites of food more frequently, rather than just 2 or 3 meals a day. I am one that has problems with getting shakey feeling at times and need to eat something quickly to remedy it and I was wondering if/afraid the change in eating would trigger that and to my amazement, I didn't have ONE episode of that over the 2+ months I was strictly following my new eating. TODAY for the first time, while not back on the eating style as I had been doing when losing the weight, I got one of those attacks quite badly! I finally got to the grocery store today to restock on all the foods to get serious about this again. I bought no fat cottage cheese to make my veggie dip and stocked up on lots of fresh veggies to get back to my supply for snacking on throughout the day. I bought some frozen yogurt for when I want a sweet treat - that is so yummy, I think. Have my no fat hot chocolate for the chocolate tasting treat Keep up the good work, TJ!!! Keep us posted! Love,
Hi TJ,
I have to say that is really shocking me! Everytime I get on the scale, I am bracing for bad news and it hasn't come! I had put on 2 pounds at one point, but it came back off, somehow!
Bought some more pretzels and we always keep the baked taco chips on hand and salsa and the 94% fat free popcorn. NOW, I just need to get back on the Net and start looking for recipes again for entrees, now that I lost all mine when my PC died
I think that has been part of what has taken me time to get with it - frustrated over all of that and all the time and work lost and then to have to go searching again for menu items - along with all the other computer stuff. I will get with this again, just taking me longer than I had hoped!
Sue
