Have listened to his Focus on the Family for years. Living in a house that is male dominated (even the cat, haha), I can relate!! This is SOOOOOO true about the energy and noise levels of boys!! I told my hubby that we HAD to live in the country, because no neighbor would be able to tolerate the noise levels of our boys! I couldn't believe it one day when a high school age neighbor girl told me that they always knew when the boys were home after school as they could HEAR them AND these neighbors are WAY down the road, 1/4 mile, with woods and all to stifle noise! I couldn't believe it! She said it was like someone let them loose, haha. My boys had vivid imaginations and being only 2 years apart in age they were good buddies. They would be outside on swings pretending they were space ships and shooting off bombs, then dive off the swings and run all over the yard firing more bombs, haha. Yup, whole different story raising girls than boys. I think girls can be awfully noisy too, but in a different way, giggle, giggle, giggle ~ I have 2 nieces! It is funny the 'different' types of noise, isn't it!? I concur with the communicating thoughts too, so important!!!! It is interesting to see how my sons are as they grow. My oldest shares everything with me, which I think is great. My youngest, keeps his thoughts more to himself. It is sort of funny because my oldest was always the one that was quiet around others, but has always talked up a storm to me and that has continued, even more so as he has become an adult. I feel so blessed that he feels he can share anything with me and confide in me. My youngest is the one that is really outgoing and communicates with everyone with ease, so, yet as he gets older he seems more quiet at home, unless you get him going on something by initiating the conversation with him. Keeping the communication lines open is so important, I think! One just can't let that sort of thing dwindle, or like this article points out, it can be 'the beginning of the end;' it can be so hard to open those lines of communication again! Thanks again, Gloria. Love,
