Posted by Al I have relatively recently become fascinated with Edgar Cayce and believe that he was the "real deal". The book "There is a River" sparked this interest and convinced me. Subsequently, I read "The Place We Call Home, Exploring the Soul's Existence after Death" by Robert J. Grant; who is described as "a leading authority on the psychic legend Edgar Cayce". This book discusses, based on Cayce's readings, what happens after physical death and explores the eternal, almost impossible-to-believe, incredible spirituality of every soul and the amazing insights we will all receive after making the "transition". It goes on to outline a precise system for learning about "the other side", if you will, as well as a way to communicate with passed-on loved ones. This system was explained by Cayce's son, Hugh, and according to him, is based on his father's readings. In short, it entails waking up and recording one's dreams, follwed by reviewing them at night before sleeping and writing down any feelings (stream-of-consciousness style) one has about the dream. Then, it continues on by instructing one to write a question posed to God based on whatever sincere insight one wants to receive (communication with a loved one, insights into the "beyond" for example, which are my two interets). It also entails writing a rather invloved "dream incubation statement" three times; probably as a way to reinforce the brain's subconscious during sleep. Ok, the clincher...spirituality aside, I'm only human! I do believe in God and His guidance but I also work, have a wife and child, go to AA meetings four times a week, and generally live a busy lifestyle. When bedtime arrives, I am generally too exhausted to complete such an involved routine! Now, the things I see that I have as support are: 1) I completely believe Cayce was legitamate and am glad that he was very religious and saw his ability as God-based...not as some generic "new-age" guru. Therefore, I believe what I've read about him. 2) I believe in God and believe that he offers guidance based on one's genuiness and sincerity; not on adherance to a prescribed ritual that cannot be altered. 3) I have read Jung's "Man and his symbols" and think he makes a lot of sense about recurring arcetypes and their place in one's subconscious, and by default, one's dreams. 4) I believe I DO get messages on this Earth from my deceased grandmother based on what I've read and learned thus far. 5) AA helps keep me spiritual on a daily basis. Currently, I find myself only able to wake early and record my dreams, looking over the previous entry. I do not write my feelings about the previous entry but naturally ponder it throughout the day. Jung's ideas influence this but do not control it. At night, I think it suffices me to just, simply, pray to God for dream recall, with ongoing guidance about them. I also communicate with my grandmother throughout the day as much as I can since I know she is closer than I can probably imagine. I think I am just looking for somewhat more tangible results but am unsure just what I expect. I think that I think if I had a more-defined system of dream-study I could attain these undefined results. Still, I am new at this, too. Any ideas, insights, thoughts? Thank you. Sincerely,
