I disagree as 'total' life shall not be annihilated, there will be room for re-adaptation to the catastrophic events manifested by an earth shift. It is like a brush-fire destroying almost everything but leaving just enough to re-grow into something far better, stronger and resilient to forces which threaten the very livelihood.
