"Why, yes," Gir-rowel agreed, smiling, "very much like your mother, I suppose. And do you know what?" The gray hound leaned over the dragons so they could hear him whisper. "Right away I knew you three were special creatures. While you grow I'm sure all of you lead a very important part in life here on this mountain."
The gray hound took a moment to look at his surroundings. Everything was dense with wilderness. He felt calmer now, but was still filled with the need to civilize it all.
"Well, children, I'm afraid I don't have many more stories. There are details of myself I suppose are interesting, to me, but I'm not sure if you would enjoy them.
"Back in my younger days I used to attend races. Many dogs of my type, and I, were put in cages at the starting line. There was a popping noise and a white rabbit faster than any rabbit on earth was released. Our cages would open and all of us hounds would chase after it. We couldn't help ourselves, it was instinct. All of use would run in a giant trail like crazy, they had to put muzzles on us so fights wouldn't occur. I have won many races in my time, but the life of a runner is short-lived and soon I was put into retirement, where I lived with the history professor. Anyways, I'm not very sure why I was put in these races, the humans made me do it, but I those races made up the most exciting years of my life."
