Gir-rowel smiled sheepishly and nodded. "Well, Quetz, numbers are the quantity of units or things. They represent how much of something there is. In stead of saying, 'There are a lot of deer in the heard,' you could count those deer and say how many there are. 'There are six deer in that herd." Not wanting to lose the dragon's focus, Gir-rowel thought of something else to entertain these youngsters.
"Let's leave numbers as a subject to learn when you three are a few months older. Stories, how about I tell you some? The history professor only told me human stories. Sometimes they are difficult to understand, but most of them are quite interesting. Would you like to hear one, children?"
