The egg continued to wobble slightly, the motion growing in force over a period of several minutes. All that time, Tsuki remained still, barely even blinking, until at last a hairline crack appeared. The egg froze for a moment, then its inhabitant seemed to redouble his or her efforts, and soon a spiderweb of cracks had spread over the brown surface of the shell. Then there was a determined thump, and a few pieces fell away to reveal a tiny, rather slimy, green head, which then pulled back and banged against the shell a second time, widening the opening.
Now Tsuki began to use the tip of his nose to nudge away cracked pieces of the shell, helping his dragonling out, and eventually he had enough space to take a large chunk in his mouth and pull it away.
The hatchling that flopped out of the broken shell onto the soft fur of the fox's tail was mostly pine green in color, with soft brown points on its nose, tail, hands and feet. It's large, round eyes were bright red, and it was female.
