The two-tailed fox had spent the last few days lurking all about the mountain territory, watching and listening until he had a fair idea of what the place was like. Once that was accomplished, the next logical step was to find himself a pack. He was not a wolf, so the pack instinct was not strong in him, but he was smart enough to respect the lupine communities and acknowledge their usefullness. He had not been too sure about his luck, since he was not a wolf, and that was what had drawn him to this pack in particular. The whole packland bore the scent of fox. Vixen, no less.
It was her howl that he heard just as he was about to seek her out. Well, that certainly made things easier.
And so he approached, keeping his head and waggling tails low in submission and a friendly smile on his face. "'Scuse me, ma'am," he voiced delicately. "Would you happen to be the leader of this pack?"
