Let us remember those who served, on this day. The men and women of "the greatest generation" which triumphed over the second world war are dying off. The men who landed on Normandy and Iowa Jima are now the lonely old men on the front pouches of the nursing homes. I had the pleasure of befriending 2 such men this year before they passed from us. Mr Preston was a carpenter from Hattiesburg and he took part in both D-Day and the battle of the Bulge. He took along his camera and kept those old WW2 photos in an old shoebox with him to the day he died. Mr Glenn was from Arkansas and he was a gunner on a B-17 in occupied Italy. He recently returned to his beloved Arkansas, for the last time.
