Posted by Etowah Eagle on 10/28/2002, 9:10 am We have insisted on inspectors before. Saddam played games with them. Why would anyone expect a different outcome now. 6-8 months? I'm not sure about that. Most every special forces unit in the Army's arsenal has been called up. We have had prepositioned equipment over there since the Gulf War and we have been shipping more over the past several months. Getting the troops there is just a matter of a plane ride. With the northern and southern "no-fly" zones, we already have Saddam pinned up in a smaller box. Also, we would rather do battle in the winter. Battle in winter increases the effectiveness of our thermal imaging equipment (great temp variation). The hours of day light are less and we have better night fighting capability. The heat is much less which is a benefit to soldier endurance and wearing that blasted chemical resistant gear.

One of the items has to do with the free flow of oil. If you were to look back, I think you'd find that a similar item from past administrations. Saddam left unchecked could certainly impede that flow (possibly becoming the controling power of OPEC).
