You should render unto Ceaser what is Ceaser and to God what is God's. I think on both counts God is punishing the Church for failing to do its job. If the Church continues to seek political solutions to moral problems, God will eventually punish the nation. One final note - Rehnquist et al have done nothing although they have had opportunities to do so. Which takes me back to earlier posts in this thread.

I am anti abortions.
But the absolute worse way to stop them is to let government handle it.
Two reasons:
1) Making abortions illegal is NOT the will of the American public. In most Congressional districts anti abortion candidates would be soundly defeated. Abortion is viewed by most people in the U.S. as an acceptable form of contraception. Therefore, seeking federal anti-abortion laws is a waste of time and energy.
2) The church is not doing its job. When Christians decide they will do what they were told to do instead of seeking political solutions to enforce Christian dogma, you will see a reduction in abortions. Christians are so busy complaining about politics and the political process that they are not witnessing and spreading the Gospel, especially in the neighborhoods where is it needed most.
