So - it was a cabaret-type benefit - a night with many people making short appearances. Very close to the end, it was Douglas' turn.
He sang "She Was There". With as much passion and with as much voice as I have ever heard him sing it, and I've heard him a few times...there were tears pricking my eyes, a lump in my throat, and I could actually feel my heart thumping...hardly dared to breathe, and the thought ran through my head - "there. there it is, there. Absolute magic."
