Sometimes a dream shows 2 angles of the same situation. It could be that the cult scene reflects what life or dynamics might have been like if you had been with this guy. When the dream turns and you are handed a letter, it seems that unfinished business with this guy you once liked is finally finished as you read the letter. You hear an explanation you didn't have before. So sometimes dreams give you information about past situations just so your mind can be at peace or realize somthing now that you're out of the situation. But if what I say does not resonate with you, don't take my word for it. You can always talk to things or people in your dream and ask them questions in your imagination after you've had the dream. I get more information that way.
