When we changed logos in 2007, it went from this: To this: Even after all this time, it's been hard for me to really warm up to the new P. It's fine and all, and looks good on letterhead, but it doesn't really evoke sports or (especially) collegiate athletics. The challenge, though, was that the University really wanted to copyright the new logo, and there were so many other Pilot Wheel logos out there that apparently it wasn't really possible to trademark a new one. I don't know... that was the story, anyway. I've been waging an underground battle to bring back some form of an alternative/throwback logo (Pilot Wheel, anchor... something nautical) that UP could use for t-shirts and other "non official" type uses, but I'm pretty much a voice in the wilderness on that one. To me, the one word that jumps out to me when I see the new USF logo (and think about the newish UP logo) - coorporate. It's perfectly functional, thought out, looks good on business cards, etc etc... but is ultimately a bit soulless and doesn't quite give you the emotional resonance that you want. Still, having said all that - I actually do like the new USF logos. Maybe it's not a complete home run, but it's something to be proud of and excited about. Believe me, it could be MUCH worse... remember the GAP disaster from a year or two ago?

Hammer. Nail. Head. As far as the Nike gear...don't expect too much. It will likely be fairly basic swoosh gear as Nike tiers their sponsorships of schools. Lower tiered schools get run of the mill gear...but if you are a fan of the swoosh at least it will be USF Nike gear and better than what has been offered in the past.

I gotta agree (see my post below). It just doesn't do anything for me. I know there was issues in the past with the close resemblance to the Zoro character, causing us to remove much of those aspects from thinks like WMG floor, etc. Im sure that played a factor. Still...if we are going be the DONS...let's be that. Nothing triggers emotional reactions and pride from a fan base like representing your mascot. Im sure most of you have seen the ESPN U logo for USF, the giant character "U" letter with the mustache and mask. AWESOME! Add a "S & F" to that logo and id be happy as a clam. Maybe not as our primary, but as the secondary it would be sweet. Do something fun, something different and something a bit more marketable/merchandisable.

Very diasappointing but not surprising at all that every "culturally insensitive" element has been scrubbed.

Why is there so much concern on the changed design. The bottom line is getting USF athletics back to winning. Nationally USF is known as south Florida. A few years ago that was not so.

Just moved back to the bay area and can't believe how USF has tumbled over the years. I am ever supportive but there are things that will continue to keep the Dons down. 1. Even though I love war memorial it needs to be redone not touched up. Several WCC teams have done a nice job with their new facilities. I don't think you can get top recruits with the current facilities. 2. Players leaving in such high numbers over the Past few years. It is a national issue but hurts the mid majors. 3. Keeping bay area talent. 4. It can be done. Teams in the WCC have all made runs over the years. I will continue to support USF and am proud of my former school. Hope the support is still out there. There seems to only be a few supporters.

Jeeezzz, where is Triumph the Dog when you need him 1. The new logo..."Who gives a shit?" please stop. 2. Players leaving...quit being so naive as to suggest it was all the players idea and add those leaving Gonzaga versus those leaving USF during Walters tenure and then ask yourself "Who gives a shit." 3. Some of you guys need to find a new team. This constant small time 8th grade girl crap is a detriment to recruiting and building a team.
