One more win than the rest of the WCC so far!

What a perfect time for this trip. Get to know each other on and off the court while playing not top international talent, but good enough (if Jovan Harris is the best player in the country, per Walters tweet).

I feel guilty for even asking this question but here goes.... was there a box score from last nights game? No press what so ever? I understand it has little or no meaning, but it gives us Alumni something to think about.

Men's Basketball Kicks Off Exhibition Season With Win in Cancun

The San Francisco Dons men's basketball team kicked off their exhibition season with an explosive offensive performance defeating the Soles de Benito Ju�rez of the Mexican National Professional Basketball League, 120-51.

The Dons had six players in double figures led by true freshman Tim Derksen with 20 points. Mark Tollefson followed with 16 of his own, including two alley-oop finishes assisted by De'End Parker and Gavin Hoffmann, respectively. De'End Parker (16 points), Cole Dickerson (15 points), Frank Rogers (11 points) and Joe Edmonds (11 points) rounded out the double-digit scorers.

The game was a good warm-up for the Dons leading into tonight's game against La Rebotera. Coach Walters will likely mix the lineups in an effort to determine the rotation for the season.

Glade to see the info.Derkson will be a great player, but his assists numbers are going to be great on dishing and lead passes on the break.

May be there was not to much defense being played ????

Ah... was this team still drunk from the Olympic Gold Medal celebration over Brazil!!??

We could have put together a team from this board and at least covered the 69 point spread!

Lol, you might be right Dave! My guess is this team had little height inside and were just not a very good team what so ever. I would think that USF will not score 120 against SFSU. We shall see.

It doesn't look like the competition is going to get any better down there. The Soles de Benito Juarez were recent champions in the Quintana Roo Circuit: link

But, nonetheless, this trip is great for team chemistry and confidence. Keep the wins coming fellas.

contrary to what's been reported, this team is not one of the professional teams that plays in the Mexican national league- which has included a number of notable college players from the States. i think this team was more of a developmental team playing in a local league. they are probably a JC-caliber team at best. however, i think we play the Pioneros, a true pro team, on Wednesday night.
