Maybe, USF bought the houses between Lone Mountain and the Main Campus to build new facilities and such?
U.S.F. landing a 4 to 5 star basketball recruit?
Lacross team? Rowing and Sailing team? Softball team?
Gymnastic? Bill Russell going to U.S.F. games?

Pure guesses based on "big"

1. Bill Cartwright is joining the Athletic Department.

2. Bill Russell has dropped the feud, will be honored by having the court named after him and KC Jones and will be given a way overdue degree based on his achievements.

3. A new off campus baseball facility-given the city space this would either have to be redoing Big Rec in Golden Gate Park or a site in the Presidio. Alternatively, an agreement with the Giants to play home games at A T & T.

4. As mentioned by another poster, USF becomes a part of the new arena plan and will be playing some games in the new glass palace on the waterfront beginning in 2017.

5. Added sports as mentioned by Dons Pride-likely lacross and rowing.

6. RW is signing a contract extension.

7. A major sponsor will be announced providing significant funds and opportunities for the Athletic Department.

8. Just for fun, DGM is being hired by the new AD at Stanford as his assistant in charge of community relations.

9. The 1951 football team (or at least those still alive) is finally going to get honored at the White House as was supposed to happen a few years ago. Alternatively, a major motion picture is being made of their story.

10. USF and other Jesuit universities have agreed to an annual tournament. Alternatively, the Cable Car Classic is returning to San Francisco, a city that actually has cable cars!

1) Lee can't sign an LOI at this point, and a school cannot press releae a verbal. (and he isn't coming to USF anyways)

Millbrae Don's #3 isn't too far off the University's radar. That's a lot of space being used by a small percentage of the student population...hate to see any team move too far away from main campus though (sorry tennis and golf).

Balboa, you might be thinking too narrowly here. I'm hedging my prediction bet on both 1 & 3. I can easily see Bill C coming to WMG to work with Tao Xu. What a great project for a great Don. I wonder if there was some mention of Bill C to Tao early in the discussions. I know Rex is aware of the potential for this tall relationship. Regarding #3, don't feel too sorry for tennis and golf. They have OC. We had GGP's courts for our matches. GGP's Big Rec could be revamped and great. I think ATT might be a little over the top for collegiate ball, but Cal football liked it. Think of the recruiting value...visits to ATT for baseball and visits to the Warrior's new bayside arena for bb!

Love the Bill Cartwright possibility, any alumni involvement is welcomed for sure. I'd rather see the bball team play in a new facility on campus (baseball field site?) than an NBA arena, its a scale/atmosphere thing. And renovating Big Rec for the baseball team for the same reasons, although I can only imagine the battle with the locals about messing with GGP, haha.

Maybe more NBA Teams would like to visit and practice at University of San Francisco War Memorial Gym because I recall two NBA Teams that visited U.S.F. won the NBA Title (Dallas Maverick and the Miami Heat).

1. San Francisco Warriors will help U.S.F. Basketball improve marketing and get more sponsors

2. San Francisco Warriors will use War Memorial Gym as their Practice Facility

That's our old logo from the SI days...not the new one...just thought new logo off the language being used. I could be wrong.

On one hand people want USF to market themselves. On another, people complain it doesn't mean more wins. USF, why bother with anything? Sound like City Hall. You can't ever win with this fan base,

If indeed the BIG, I mean REALLY BIG, announcement is that USF Athletics has been teasing is a new logo, that certainly isn't a BIG deal in any way, shape or form to this observer. Interesting....perhaps. Part of the new USF Marketing outreach campaign.....OK, but BIG, I don't hardly think so. A BIG announcement would be a plan to continue to upgrade and modernize WMG, to have obtained a major Corporate sponsor for USF Athletics, to build a new baseball facility etc. If it's a new logo I think the yawn factor will be very high.

An announcement that would make me happy would be a sponsor for a named tournament. I remember the old NW Mutual sponsorship - some decent teams came in for that.

They will be releasing a new logo. They've been working on this for awhile now. But I think I saw the women's soccer team already wearing gear with the new logo. If you see them walking around, you might catch a glimpse before "the big announcement." WMG is also closed for renovation so I think they are probably going to be putting the new logo on the floor.

I was expecting that the really-cool-but-unavailable retro brige USF logo that we were griping about a few days ago was going to become the official logo this year. If the revealed logo is not as cool as the retro bridge logo I will be disappointed.
