It ran for me, but then a little later I received an error message and windows shut down on me. You may be lucky.

Did I see Kevin Foster at number 6. I think I am going to barf at the top five. Who would you take over Foser if you wanted to win a WCC game. Maybe Delladova. Maybe Davies if you wanted a big.

I personally am not a big fan of Foster. I think he shoots his team out of more games than in.

I wouldn't even have Foster in the top 10. Probably not Doolin either (although I do like his game)

Depends on which Foster shows up. He's never seen a shot he doesn't like. Doolin needs more consistency next season. He was spectacular against SMC in Vegas, but couldn't buy a basket against them at WMG. Visibly gets down on himself when his shots aren't falling.

So you think Doolin is one of the best 10 players in the conference? I am a huge Doolin guy, and I don't think so. He would need to be a more consistent scoring threat and dish out a lot more assists for me to put him in that category. That said, I like him a lot more than most other PGs in the league. He has an incredible motor and has proven to be clutch time and time again.

For me, Kevin Foster is the type of player that some LOVE and some HATE. I think your position on him really depends on your personal philosophy on what makes for good basketball. The guy can certainly score in bunches, but is that because he is great or because it behooves the other team to let him try? His game reminds me a lot of Antonio Kellogg, who was a player I didn't particularly care for very much. I can see what people like about players like that, I just don't value it myself. His presence will certainly make Evan Roquemore better this season, but that may not be saying much: Roquemore looked flat-out lost most of this season.

Can we at least agree that Kerry Keating is the Best Thing Ever?

Doolin does not need me to defend him. He is a coaches dream who breaks down opposing defenses, leads the conference in A/T, and scores more than Angelo did as freshman and sophomore while taking a gigantic 6 or 7 shots a game. Ask yourself, Solo, why, when we really need a point to tie or win a game, the ball is in Cody's hands.
As for Foster...wow...led the conference in scoring as a sophomore. Deadly shooter who is also physically strong and every team in the conference designs their defense against Santa Clara to stop him...and still cannot get it done. Wonder what he would look like on Gonzaga.
Solo, ask yourself this. You have a draft choice and the bet is your net wealth. Are you taking Pangos (who is about to be in the top five) or Foster. Tell me how Pangos is going to play with Santa Clara's bigs instead of Gonzaga'a.

I'm dividing my responses into two separate posts. I don't think you and I really disagree about Doolin, other than his relative ranking against all other players in the conference. You think he is a top 10 player. I think he is probably more of a top 20 player. But we both think he is great, right? Yay, Doolin! I'm a big fan.

Basketball is a team game, and I think college basketball especially depends a LOT on the way coaches use particular player's skills/talents. This is one of MANY reasons why I love college basketball and am at best indifferent about the NBA. In college basketball, you could have 5 guys that individually couldn't beat the other teams' 5 guys one-on-one, but definitely can be better than them as a team.

Kevin Foster in one program is an entirely different beast than Kevin Foster in another program. He would be surrounded by entirely different personnel, the dynamics would be completely different, and the coach would use him (by and large) in a very different way. I think when you are ranking players, you have to rank the player as they exist in their current environment. Drafting guys based on pure individual talent level would be a fun exercise, but in the real world, you have to build a TEAM. This actually goes back to the point that Rex was trying to make last year about Sam Dower. He felt that Dower's game would not fit well into the Dons' style (or at least not better than the guys the Dons already had at the time). And guess what? He was right! It doesn't denigrate Dower in any way (unless you are a sensitive Zaggie). It was a simple fact.

Would Foster do well in a big one-on-one tournament between all the players in the league? Absolutely! Is he capable of putting his team on his back and doing some amazing things on the basketball court? Absolutely! Does the risk of his approach to the game (along with the freedom allowed him by the beloved Kerry Keating) outweigh the reward? Heck no. Could he be a Top 10 guy in another program or in another system or a with a different coach? Possibly.

If I were Mark Few and had Mark Few's team and had a choice between Pangos and Foster, I would take Pangos. If were drafting guys for a one-on-one tournament, I would take Foster over Pangos.

Good breakdown.

If I am down 8 with 57 seconds left on the clock, Foster is #1 on my list of WCC players I want on MY team.

On the other hand, if I am down 14 with about 5 minutes left on the clock, Foster is #1 on the list of WCC players I want on the OTHER team.

OK, sounds like you have thought it through. The big difference is when Pangos gets a double screen at Gonzaga, the defenders are all showing and running back like hell to keep the bigs from dunking on them (sometimes with the exception of USF who lives by the double team). Against Santa Clara, everybody is blitzing the screens and trying to get there before Foster elevates and heats up the three. Therein lies the difference and it is a big one.
I would have granted you, had you argued it, that there may be character differences that must be accounted for.
