No homecoming this year...very poorly attended in the past...

Very poorly attended? So instead of making Homecoming better to attract more people and have a Hall of Fame Dinner that at least brought Athletic Alumni back to campus, they have Fallfest? GREAT IDEA! I'm sure the campus will be PACKED this weekend! Get there early!!!
They should have Rex Walters do all the communication for Athletics, he is the only one that really cares after DGM got rid of Greg!

have you been to a Hall of Fame Dinner lately? Not many athletic alumni unless friends or family of those being inducted. And of those attending, most are "older" alums and not recent graduates, which makes some sense since inductees are tradionally at least five years removed from their playing days.
I know for a fact that athletic alumni are on the mailing list for the event.
From what I have heard, there is a greater effort this year to reach out to former student athletes from all sports. - Re: Athletics Communication is a Joke! FallFest??!!

One of my friends and loyal basketball alums is on the Hall of Fame Committee and specifically told me there is no Homecoming or Hall of Fame Dinner this year. The Tradition Continues??? DGM and Privett don't care about tradition or the USF Alumni!
The concert you mention, I assume is for the students and that is this Friday night! N.E.R.D. that would be a great name for the USF Athletics Staff Debi and the Nerds!

Tired Don, FYL has given you the facts that many of us alumni have had to face over the years. Homecoming has not been a big draw and the attendance gets worse every year. The Athletic Hall of Fame dinner does not entice as many people as you would think. I was thinking about the attendees in the past and I don't think I have ever seen more than twenty season ticket holders at the event.
Last year, the teams were honored so we had more people than usual. The event is one of the better ones and it is a shame that more people do not attend.
During Hogan's tenure, they skipped a year and it was not Hogan's decision. It also is not DGM's decision. The Hall of Fame Committee made the decision. The individuals who compose that committee spend a lot of time determining who should be inducted and they deserve our gratitude for their efforts. They evaluate carefully and they consider the attendance, the availability of the inductees and the worthiness of the athletes.
USF and other universities have tried various means to entice people back to their schools. It is not easy. People have numerous obligations and commitments. In some instances, they do not have spouses who support their participation.
If you have any creative ideas to bring alumni back, please contact the Alumni Office and the Alumni Board to share your thoughts.

I am a member of the Hall of Fame Committee. The USF Alumna is correct that we work quite hard on vetting the candidates. However, please be advised that the members of the Hall of Fame Committee neither discussed nor were consulted regarding the suspension of the HOF dinner in 2010. An email announcement of this news went out to us last summer. It was a done deal! - Re: Athletics Communication is a Joke! FallFest??!!

Member HOF, thanks for the clarification. I know in the past that the Committee made the call on every other year. I specifically asked Hogan about it and that was what I was told. I also asked another staff member from another department and was told the same thing.
Thanks for your efforts and those of your other committee members. In all the years, I have only disagreed with one selection and this was not an athlete. It was someone who was placed in special category. You all do a tremendous job and your contribution of time and energy is greatly appreciated.
I wonder if the costs were a factor in suspending the Hall of Fame dinner for a year. It is not a money maker and breaking even has been the goal. - Re: Athletics Communication is a Joke! FallFest??!!

Well, I'm sorry if you tired of THE TRUTH! There might be an opening on Debi's staff for you soon! If Athletics did a better job and didn't screw up so many things and communicated better, then there would be no reason to post anything that I did!
People try to cover up for the pathetic administration that is running Athletics now. It affects all of us!

Listen, buddy--you're not saying anything new. Anybody with half a brain can see that the situation in the Athletic department is messed up beyond belief--and frankly, if it doesn't shape up soon, we're in danger of losing RW. I'm not happy with that woman, I'm not happy with the university admin in how they've handled this, and your hysterics is not making me feel any better.

I guess complaining works and the Athletics staff does read Donscentral...full schedule of events on the website now! GREAT JOB!
All of us on Donscentral could do a much better job than Debi Gore-Mann and her puppets! What a circus!
At least it is one there, that is all that matters!
