I failed to mention one glaring thing, a huge difference between when Greg Sempadian was in charge of this event and now Debi Gore-Mann being in charge. For those of you who don't care, don't read further.
I know all of you that have attended this event will understand and noticed this too. Greg spoke with real passion about USF and made us all feel like we were part of a family and greeted all of us like we were one. DGM speaks with no heart and treats us like we are nothing. It is just a job to her and will never be anything more, a job she should never have!
Greg used to introduce all of the men's and women's alumni in attendance at this event and have them stand up to be recognized. That wasn't done at all today, because, once again, those people aren't important. I saw at least four there, including Hall of Famers Joe Ellis and Mike Quick, Ed Thomas, and Ross Guidice.
DGM doesn't even introduce important staff in attendance like Annette Anton or Bill Henneberry, but she made sure to thank Steve Privett, of course, the only reason she still has a job. It all starts at the top and she knows whose ass to kiss the most!
SAD, VERY SAD! When will they ever admit they made a mistake? I guess when Jessie Evans wins his lawsuit!

I understand the ticket guy (Kyle) was at a volleyball game. I spoke with another staff member about a group ticket order for our Knights of Columbus council and he gave the reason for Kyle not being there, and was very helpful. - Re: Green and Gold Scrimmage

Father Privett - Worst president in USF History. No wonder he loves DGM, he couldn't care less about donors and supporters either, sat across from bench and didn't talk to many at all.
AD and President go out of their away to avoid alumni and supporters. Dumb and Dumber.

Unless his wife gave birth yesterday, how can you not be at event for donors and fans. 3 hours away from home. Who cares if he's at the Dominican game. He should've been at O'Brien scrimmage.

If you don't care, you don't care, no harm there.
If you are the poster "Dons" or others wondering where this new guy that you may have never seen before is, my guess is you probably then say, "Okay, good enough reason. Good luck to him, wife, and future family."
Or, for many, you are excited about that and more exicted to meet him.
I did not hear everything she said (although there were 8 tables filled with boosters, and she never left from behind the food table to talk to ONE person) but another total f.ck up by DGM and why, even if she was not a lying sack of shit (proven time and time again), she is an incompetent AD just by her total lack of people skills.
People don't like her individually. She is a proven liar.
Why. Please, someone tell me why.

Great, let me get this straight. So Kyle is a cool guy so it is ok for him to be on the road supporting the volleyball team not doing his job at all, since we don't sell tickets at road volleyball games, INSTEAD of being at an important USF Basketball event where all the attendees will be season ticket holders or perspective season ticket holders??????
The direction of this department under Debi Gore-Mann's leadership is going straight to hell! Please let anyone explain to be why Kyle should not me at the Green and Gold Scrimmage???
I am not questioning that he is cool or nice! When will this administration WAKE-UP?

I think you might be even crankier about the USF Athletic Administration than even Festus, or yours truly. But, we still have seniority, because we've both been at it longer than you. Maybe the three of us should form a secret fraternity, and have a secret hand shake?
Just to throw another log on your towering inferno, while double M hired DGM, interviewing exactly zero other candidates, his boss is really the one to aim your laser site at. How many D1 (or any level for that matter) school President's would support a process of not doing a search for a position as significant as the Athletic Director, and interviewing/hiring one candidate? Right, exactly none.
Keep those cards and letters coming.........
PS: Keep watching RW and that will keep your BP down. He is really terrific. I just hope he doesn't bolt after he gets this thing going, but I'll bet some "real" AD's are keeping a close eye on him. - Re: TD......you are very cranky

SD...as much as RW is doing and actually turning this program around. I truly don't think there is a high likelyhood that he will "bolt". At least their is no real president for that within the WCC. In the last ten years,(this is especially interesting since we have had a complete turn over within the WCC in 10 years) I believe only one coach has done that and the result was not a successful move.
I don't believe RW will bolt and from talking to ones arpound him he's not looking at USF as a stepping stone. I believe he did his research (prior to coming)and is working within the system to get things done that he needs to accomplish. I agree with others, he is the perfect man for the job...maybe for different reasons. - Re: TD......you are very cranky

Did I hear it corectly does RW have a five year deal here? Secondly, if you were DGM and think real hard would you speak to anyone. It is kind of like an attorney asking a question that he doesn't know the answer to. Most likely she knows that the boosters probably do not think very highly of her. This is an EVENT, going on 25 years, not just a random scrimmage, that is meant to increase contributions to the 6th Man Club, Tip Off Club (I believe that is the women's club), and the G&G Club. It is a HUGE deal. Handshakes, waves, and feeling good after this event can go a long way to how successful the teams are in the future with the money raised that day.
Rex and Bob, representing the 6th Man Club, got behind the mic and killed it. I am sure what they said helped the program with donations that will be coming in right away.
DGM hid, and and the G&G head read off a piece of paper. I don't think they did the other sports any good. The possibility was there though. - Rex don't call me Usain Bolt

I hope you're right, USF Fan. I'm certainly not wishing nor hoping that Walters gets wooed by one of the big boys, but you can pretty much count on that happening if and when he turns this program around after 25 years of mediocrity.
Whom ever made the call to hire a search firm after Evans was excused, and pretend to let DGM partcipate in the final Head Coach selection, needs to be loudly applauded. What it will all come down to in the end is what support (or lack of such) Walters really gets in the year or two ahead if the expected program growth and success occurs. The gym upgrade was a long overedue step in the right direction. But still no strength and conditioning coach, nor full academic advisory capability, weak if non-existant marketing/PR support from the athletic department, and an AD who is a boat anchor, as opposed to a visionary partner.
Keep your seat belt tightened low and tight across your lap.

I think we all know if a Colorado or Auburn type school offers, Rex is probably gone, unless they have some NCAA problems on the horizon.

I think that if given the right financial considerations, he stays...he will need a big boost in salary when his contract expires in order to make sure that he stays put...I think that the combination of being close to home, in a great city, at a school with a storied past, sets the stage for him to stay IF the financial package is there...I just don't see him leaving soon. - Re: Rex don't call me Usain Bolt

Not to put the cart before the horse...Let's let RW accomplish something before we start the conversation about him leaving. I am not saying that there are not some positive signs on the horizon. But in Wins & Losses, we all know what the record was last year. Have we been so beaten up as far as MBB, we only see the negative side of things?

This was the 25th year of the event. Some years are better than others, but it would not continue to be held year after year if it was a non-important throw away event.

Like I said talk is cheap. The teams performance will increase the interest in USF basketball...just like all the other sport teams in the bay area. It is just the way it is. It should be a very enjoyable athletic team to watch and that will draw the fans. The handshakes are a good part. Positive energy, 6th man especially when cheering the team is a great asset, all help. The end result has to be an exciting team in order to make it. - Re: Green and Gold Scrimmage
