BobZag is Out of Control

He has just posted that if anyone hopes to beat Gonzaga . . .

"..they better do it this coming season.

After this season, the team loses Matt Bouldin. Everybody else returns and will be much improved (especially the frosh and sophs) and the team will rival any team Gonzaga has ever fielded, and quite possibly surpassing any previous Zag team. Meech, Steven, Rob, Mangisto, Bol, Andy, Elias, GJ, Sam, Kelly, et al, will mostly be baaaack for 2010, 2011, 2012, etc.

And if Few gets who he wants to get out of high school for 2011, 2012, etc., the Zags will only get better as the years pass. The talent level will just be sick.

Indeed, the best is truly yet to come.

The players he lists are basically three star players recruited by mid-majors, Rob Sacre has made 5 buckets IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER. GJ Vilarino had is ride yanked at Kentucky (dont forget he was recruited by the guys who signed Michael Porter and USF recruits Kevin Galloway and Rekalin Sims). Steven Gray has been a MAJOR disappointment and has the 1000 mile stare of Josh Heytvelt, "Meech" is a sub 50% shooter and shot 25% from 3. He averaged 3 ppg last year. Bouldin graduates.

The rest of them HAVE NEVER PLAYED ONE MINUTE OF D-1 basketall. And they have signed NOBODY for the 2011 class. And how does he know they "will be much improved"? Has Steven Gray improved? NO. Has Sacre improved? NO.

My question is, WHAT DOES HE BASE THIS RIDICULOUS PREDICTION ON? I am firmly convinced that he gets paid by the post and is just trying to get more people to sign on.

By the way, the "you better beat us this year" post was almost exactly the same post that CDC made 2 years ago. Almost verbatim.

I keep thinking that soon you folks will start raving about your team and players but there seems to be more threads concerned with Zag bashing than ones about your team and the 09-10 season.

By the way I agree with BZ, say what you want and think what you want for it will be settled on the court and to shut us up you have to beat us there and it seems to me awhile since that's happened.

Rain on the new talent at GU all you want but RW probably would have taken any one of our new guys if he could.

Good Luck in 09-10 but not against the Zags.

How about some positive info and threads on the Dons team and players.

Point taken.

But, I don't see anyone here being that over the top and, honestly, unrealistic about talent so that we will talk about Blackwell being a 4 time All-WCC guy, nor harp on O'Connor picking USF over USC, Arizona, Fresno State, and San Diego State. But, that is a yearly thing on the other board. Stepp is gone, no problem, PMAC is a much, much better player than he.

Now, again, it is just how some message board are. I read a ton of baseball message boards. There are plenty of fans of some teams that think the OF in AAA that hit .290 with 22 homers is going to be much, much better than the current OF on the MLB team that is hitting .275 with 17 homers. Now, move the first player up, he ends up not doing better, but the next guy in line at AAA is the next superstar. That is crap.

I hate to say it, but CDC84 posts on A's message boards, along with sending in fan stories to Sporting News. He is probably worse than any other fan than doing what I just described. And, he is the main offender in doing that with Zag recruits too getting the board readers all worked up.

Just something to think about.

Of course you agree with Bob. But for the amount of people on that board who love to spout out stats, they sure are quiet when they talk about Sacre and "Meech". Because they really have done very little on the court. Sub 50% shooting, 3 ppg, etc.

I guess it's just easier to say that they will make up the most talented team in the history of Gonzaga.

And it's easy to say how great these unknown players will be. But the reality is that BobZag HAS NO IDEA.

And CDC is completely full of it. He just makes things up.

Washington, by beating USC, just stole all headlines for the state for the next week at least.

Bob felt the need to go way over the top to try to keep Gonzaga fans in line. Keeping quiet might make one or two sitting on the fence become huge Huskie fans.

I hope I'm near Laughlin or Vegas before then. I believe that the Don's will beat the spread,and possibly win.

After the way late last season the Dons played the Pilots and Zags in WMG it looks good. I think the DONS not the Zag's will gel better as the season goes along. Then everyone will start knowing their "role" to play on Lowhorn's team.

As far as the GU board is , I take it with a grain of salt. Somedays it is better than reading Garfield or Beatle Bailey my favorite comic strips. They make some pretty "Bizzaro" statements that by the end of the year have not really panned out. Like flaming out in the NCAA tourney and embarassing the WCC as our representative. Or beating two easy teams then making "excuse's" why the Tarhills had the game won in the first 5 minutes. Or the Memphis game last year on National TV, what an letdown that crushing was after all their final 4 hype prior to it.

Why are you reading this MickMick? No self control? Or is it because you are sick of only seeing the Zag view of the world?

Another annual nugget:

Assuming that the Zags go with a starting five of

1. Goodson,
2. Gray,
3. Bouldin,
4. Harris, and
5. Sacre...

Will the second five be a more talented unit than any other starting five in the WCC?

1. Villarino
2. Arop, Gibbs
3. Kong
4. Olynyk, Dower
5. Foster.

This team will have five-seven guys on the bench who would start for most WCC teams. Somebody will redshirt, but that still leaves a whole lot of talent waiting for playing time.

Hey, ONE of those bench guys has actually scored in an NCAA basketball game. They must be good.

Did you then notice that no one, even on that board, agreed with the second five comment? The next post said, "the starting 5 will have their hands full with Portland, let alone the 2nd string." There are delusional people on every board. If you cherry pick the crazy comments, it's not a fair representation of the overall opinions.

I'm a Gonzaga fan, but let me be the first to say that BobZag is a pompous know-it-all. He's an idiot to be honest, who thinks he's full of inside information and stunning insight into college basketball. Like many on that board, he's full of it.

I agree with RanchZagFan sometimes I cant believe the things BZ posts. I often wonder if he stops to check his facts. BZ once claimed that a juco player who was coming for a visit led the nation in rebounding. Said player only had 6 boards per game. You have to take things on the zag board with a grain of salt. Much like you do on every message board.

Harrris:I will try and attend a couple of classes between now and the opening of the basketball season.
Gonzaga Board:Don't worry it's not that important. You're attending class is secondary to playing basketball.

I don't blame BobZag for the crazy folks on guboards. I like guboards during the season because there are some folks that are realistic and have good takes. Right now though they've got nothing to talk about...thus the imagination tends to wander (i,e. over-touting Bol Kong, assuming the strength of our bench, etc).
Some of the good posters (Jazz, CDC--even though DC doesn't much care for him, and ZN) have some pretty good posts when there is actually something to discuss.

lol...hated that guy when he first started posting but now I find him to be over the top, infectiously enthusiastic--Every fanbase needs one. In GU's case it's every other board contributor.
