regarding your first point, don't forget that private schools also must comply with title ix if they receive federal funding.
regarding your second point, i agree that academics matter. however, i don't believe that any academic standard hinges on whether the school is public or private. both public and private schools can have good and bad academic standards.
what would ucsb have to change academically to meet wcc academic standards? i don't think much, if anything
