My take on Air Force is that they might make sense if we are guaranteed that BYU will be in the conference for the long haul, but the WCC doesn't want to end up in a situation where Air Force joins and then BYU bolts, leaving the WCC with the traditional eight members plus Air Force. Ten would make a lot of sense in terms of scheduling and BYU having a natural travel partner. If it worked out where BYU could be football only in the Big East, that might be enough of a guarantee that the rest of their sports will stay in the WCC. If that happens, then maybe adding Air Force would indeed make sense. But, the bigger question is if the Big East will remain an AQ conference after the BCS contract expires in 2014. You could easily argue that the C-USA/MWC superconference would deserve the nod over the Big East.
