Gaels run a 4-1 so it's all about the outside shooting to compliment an inside game. The Gaels had the best backcourt in the WCC so it overcompensated... but the board work was done by committee. But, the focus is about SCU trying to move up in the rankings into the 1-3 positions, and without a solid big man, Broncos can't sustain the hauling over a 16 game schedule when shooting is down from outside to stay in a tight WCC game on the road. Whereas, a guy like Mitch Young at 6-10 (Jr) is capable of going off for 20 points on a more consistent basis. He had 28 against LB State and is steady from 12 feet and in, and rebounds well. Add Kyle Rowley at 7 feet and Kenton Walker at 6-9 who should be very comfortable as a 5th year senior to give us a very competive front court against BYU and GU. I just don't see the match ups with SCU... yet, but sophomores bloom and perhaps John McArthur (6-9) will be a rebounding beast... but I just don't see the front court deep and thick.
BTW, when the Gaels ran to the sweet 16 this 6-11 guy Omar Samhan (DPOY) owned everyone in the middle and the Gaels played inside to open the outside and Omar passed the rock back out to the open shooters very well.
