USF Alumna, please read the previous post about Bill Russell and his relationship with the City of Boston. I think it shows that reconciliation is not only possible, but likely.
I respect your decision not to sign the petition for your legitimate reasons. Completely understandable, but i disagree. I love the Lincoln statue in DC and also the Willy Mays statue at giants stadium. But what bothers me are fans of the statue who are afraid to garner support for it simply because they feel USF will be rebuffed. If we show Bill Russell the respect he deserves (like was done in Boston), USF will be better off.
Also, my question about what QD stands for was serious and not meant to be sarcasm. I have respect for Mr. Dailey, but I question why someone would post at a USF message board under a name that brings up so many sad memories for USF (he was a scapegoat but still a symbol nonetheless). However, QD has not responded, and it may not mean what I think it does. So we can leave it at that.
