That is so true. This year has been the perfect example of team work. They trust each other and they like each other. That can be unbeatable.
Years ago, I was told that the turning point for the Bill Russell teams came when Bill and the other Black players were denied housing at a hotel because of the color of their skin. They were offered housing in a school's dorm. The entire team went to the dorms.
This team has their catalyst for unity - Rex with his burning desire to win which has inspired their burning desire to win. They have tenacity and fortitude.
Last night, I was remembering all the devoted Dons who are no longer there who would have been so thrilled with what has happened during this season. These young men with their wins have paid homage to the University's history of great basketball and they are carving out their own destiny and place in our history. They are honoring tradition and they are doing it in harmony with the dictate of a Jesuit, Father Hub Flynn, who believed in the total athlete - athletic prowess combined with academic success.
