Well, I don't disagree with what you say, for the most part...the entire Greg vs. DGM thing has been posted here ad nauseum, so no need to rehash that.... But the meeting WAS planned months ahead and frankly, yes, she should have been there if for no other reason than to thank us and then leave, but the fact that she wasn't there doesn't bother me one bit. Let me tell you one thing that I was rather vocal about...I think that I know who your buddy on the board is, and he's a great guy..he ALWAYS brings good ideas to the table...I went on record as saying that for my money, homoecoming stinks...the campus is waaaaaay too restrictive and is in clamp down mode..who can have fun there? My suggestion was to close the soccer field for a day, have a food vendor, preferably your buddy, and a beer/wine vendor....have the soccer field full of beer pong and corn hole games for the afternoon and early evening and let the alums HAVE SOME FUN! It will never happen, although a member of the homecoming committee pulled me aside to tell me that even their committee admits that homecoming is no fun.
The fact is that there were issues between Greg and DGM, but even if he were here, there would still be issues.
At University of Dayton, for alumni weekend, the Resident Advisors are basically told to leave the alums alone unless they need help or are committing a crime, because they spend alot of their time on campus playing games, having cocktails and writing checks...they don't have to listen to department deans or drink their beer in a 4x4 holding cell so some student won't see them (GASP!) drinking! The bottom line there?....Over $1M in pledges that weekend.
This is the type of thing that the G&G board is fighting in order to raise money, awareness and the fun factor when it comes to U.S.F. and athletics.
