Either way I would rather see us going after guys with huge upside (no pun intended) than the the typical 6'3-'6'7 guys whose potential taps out at average mid-major player.
We should be trying to find players that will position us to win the league. A collection of average guys will never do that. Does it really make a difference if we finish 4th or 6th? No, it doesn't.
It has been 14 years since the last NCAA appearance. Program needs to get there within next 5 or risk becoming a complete after thought.
