Excuse the run-ons, typos, doing this on the run.
Impression I get from email received today is that it is likely a new logo. And unlike some looking for a new gym or a Mars landing, I'm extremely happy. Since day 1, Sidwell has spoken about the need for branding and marketing. And we've all harped on the lack of public awareness for USF forever. I'm sure Sidwell will release this new look thru all the PR channels necessary to make this an impactful change. This isn't simply a new logo on a coffee mug in a bookstore. Im sure this will be a worldwide USF re-brand. This has never occurred since USF fell out of the public eye decades ago, and so much so that South Florida is now USF to most.
Everything Sidwell has done thus far has been diligent, researched, and professional. This is the new era for USF that such things are done professionally now. Just look at the athletic staff and see how many more people are employed. Sidwell is doing things the right way. He actually raised $1 mil over the Spring simply by personally reaching out nationwide. He's raising money as part of the season tickets. He's stated that he's spoken with the Mayor and the Warriors about the new arena. It goes without saying that he's turning over stones and looking for alumni, fans while working politicians and corporations. In short, he's re-building the USF program from scratch and he's doing the right way and professionally, like someone who came from Syracuse U. USF is finally entering the 21st century and this time attempting to start a legit Division-1 athletic department.
So if it is a new logo, look, brand, marketing goal, bravo! This is the first time this is being done the right way, and not some something put together by the members of Our Gang, aka Macmillan and company.
So for those clamoring for a shirt at the bookstore, they said they'll have merchandise at the event next week. I, for one, am just excited about the bigger picture. That USF appears to finally have entered the world of Division-1 and has someone in charge who knows how.
And to the person (I'm pretty sure I know whom it is) who claimed DGM is better at marketing than Sidwell, you are a complete tool and utter moron!!
Again, I'm just assuming its a new logo, brand. Either way, the above stands.
