Yeah, I agree with you. You're absolutely right - there is no one that's invulnerable. BYU works VERY hard to make sure no violations occur, and when they do, they report it immediately (including someone buying an ice cream cone for an athlete after practice). The rules need to be clarified, made reasonable, then enforced.
The thing that bothers me most, though, is the prevailing attitudes of some players who think it's not a 'big deal' to violate the rules, unless they get caught. And usually, when they are caught, it's after they're out of school. Then the institution is the one that suffers the consequences of the Athlete's actions (e.g. USC) - not the player.
Honor should still mean something.
