Abeille, I agree with your AD Tom Holmoe who expressed caution rather than elation at BYU's clean slate. Many of us old coaches have our inside info. No coach can be considered an idol. One of my former prep players realized at UCLA how he received considerable inducements from hidden sources while his venerable coach was kept ignorant of those gifts.
Your cited article has the NCAA president discussing his increased enforcement corps, but he fails to mention the failure at controlling corporate influence. Didn't the article mention something about one sponsor dropping Penn State only for GM to be nibbling at it. But one would think after the sanctions, GM would be laying rubber in first gear to get out of there!
At least, it's my impression that our current league emphasizes the education and character building its athletes deserve to receive instead of accepting the one or two and done conditioning stint for the pros. Come to think of it, where are those NCAA enforcement cops?
