Rex is trying to navigate a system that is broken. At this point, I would be happy with 5 non-conference home games against d-1 opponents...and you can do whatever else with the leftover games. There were years during the DGM administration when this seemed ambitious.
We won't be having this conversation when (1) the NCAA forces all D-1 teams to play 3 non-conference "true" road games every season and (2) the NCAA selection process doesn't penalize teams for playing games on the road.
The BCS has finally reformed itself. The NCAA is beginning to address issues involving shamateurism. It is high time that the NCAA basketball committee adopt scheduling reforms.
