Once his contract is up, there is no way the Giants current management would pony up what he deserves. The Giants refuse to pay for the elite players, but will pay $120m for Barry Zito, $ 9m a year for Renteria and $ 60m to our No. 8 hitter Aaron Rowand. Not to mention paying Dave Roberts $ 8m for what was basically a half season of mediocrity (due to very predictable injury).
Sabean is famous for overpaying 35 year old middle relievers, 4th outfielders on the downside of their career and middle infielders who end up pinch hitting 20 games.
I still dont know how Sabean got an extension.
