We should not get too far ahead of ourselves with next year's class, but I think we have a solid recruiting class coming in. Are they Top 100 type kids? No. But they are for the most part 3 star level athletes (Rivals has Murphy and Doolin as 3 stars and Dickerson is an All State player in Washington).
All of them were recruited by several other schools and actually had options (unlike prior USF recruiting clases). All of them are versatile and can play more than one position.
RW's first two recruiting classes show hard work, preparation, organization and execution. In year 1, he got Perris to sign in the November period. The rest signed in the Spring period. Year 2 will have all four recruits signed in the early period. That is incredible progress, considering where our program was in April 2008.
Past recruiting has been as follows: 1) sign one or two decent freshman; 2) sign a random 6'6" JC or 2; and 3) wait for a transfer to show up. If 1), 2) or 3) do not work out, fill out the roster in May with players no other school would ever sign.
I am very excited to see how we compete this season and how it will improve our recruiting even more. As I have said, RW has really sold the POTENTIAL of the program to very good recruits.
I love the size and versatility of the players he is bringing in. When have we ever had EIGHT guys 6'7" or taller on the roster? Not sure what our win loss record will be in the next two years, but we will be competitive every night. No more getting beat by UOP by 30 at home.
Congrats to RW and staff!!!
