You can't force someone to be a fan of a sport. If somone only likes men's hoops (or pick any other sport), but tell them they must follow another sport as well, not only are they still not going to be fans, but resent that sport all the more. See the WNBA. See soccer in America.
Honestly, if I was marketing the women's team this year, I would hammer into everyone that Tennessee is coming to WMG. Give tickets packages making hard for a men's fan to not go to the game. Several fans might say they are not a fan of the women's game, but would not mind checking out the Tennessee game (here is a thought, for an additional $50, along with your men's ticket, you get a ticket to the Tennessee, SMC, and SCU women's games). There is your chance to increase your fanbase. Play an enjoyable and competitive game right there, and some might return.
And, hopefully saying to be a true fan you must support both the men's and women's programs, I will see you at the next USF tennis match and cross country meet.
