Overall, an excellent event! Don't think there were as many supporters as in the past but the usual loyal die-hard fans were there.
Both teams looked very improved over last season. Don't have much to compare to on the women's side because I only attended two of their games last season. A lot more height and some great kids, talked with a few at the reception and they are very excited.
Rex has done a tremendous job with the Men's team! Great recruits, hard workers, excellent staff! The height and depth of the team is best in years. Dior was excellent, so was Kwame. Like Blackwell and Nikolai very much. O'Connor should be ok. Good to see kids hustling and playing so hard like Rex preaches!
I'm sure more of you will have your own comments. Wanted to give another perspective and hand out a few "awards" since I'm "Tired" Don and tired of some things as usual!
*Rex Walters - Possibly the best young coach in college basketball today. The perfect fit for this position. Great speech at the reception, speaks from the heart. You can tell how much he cares and how much he wants to build his program into a success. He even knows how to "play the game" when he thanks the pathetic administration. Rex will do a tremendous job for many years to come and build this program into a champion!
*Debi Gore-Mann - Award for the Worst Speaker and Athletic Director in USF History, possibly the worst in NCAA History. The woman has NO CLUE. Hasn't improved in any area since day one, actually has gotten worse. She is the complete opposite of Greg when he spoke at events like this! Greg spoke from the heart and DGM has no heart and doesn't care about USF or any of us as alumni and supporters! Nothing she says makes sense or even matters, but have to admit, must be hard to speak in front of a group of people that hate you.
*Father Privett - Worst president in USF History. At least he was in attendance, poorly dressed in tennis shoes and t-shirt, at least a USF t-shirt! Lack of professionalism compared to Schlegel, LoSchiavo and others. No wonder he loves DGM, he couldn't care less about donors and supporters either, sat across from bench and didn't talk to many at all.
*Greg Sempadian - Most loyal and dedicated staff athletic staff member USF ever had. Still in attendance, still talking to and greeting everyone and supporting everyone. Either he is a saint or the dumbest person ever, because anyone that was treated the way he was, fired, and stabbed in the back by DGM would never step foot on campus anymore. Greg carries himself with amazing professionalism that DGM could take lessons from! No wonder she hated him.

Eric Dumbleton - Guess he must be on paternity leave
Kyle Janzen - Interesting no ticket manager in attendance and no other USF events on campus? Good thing I didn't have ticket questions.
Bob Johnson - New alum in charge of 6th Man Club, sounds like he is doing a great job.
Phylis Bonicure (sp) - New chairperson of Green and Gold Club, seemed nice, bad speaker. Not sure what happened to the past president, Larry Ratto? He was there, would have been nice to at least thank the guy and introduce the new person that way.
Student and his mom - Season ticket holders wearing Greg Sempadian Fan Club shirts. Made me smile. Back of shirt said "you're the best!" I agree, he was!
Well, that is it, add what you want. Still a lot of issues on the Hilltop, but at least gym and the team are much improved even though the administration is an embarrassment!
