in these tough economic times why not play competitive local universities
Cal's football team took busses to UCLA this weekend because of the economy. But they paid Eastern Washington a pile of money to play at Berkeley instead of visiting Fresno (and playing sa quality opponent) for free. The basketball program is handing out cash for these "guaranteed" games.
Even in these financial times, they'll take a bus 850 miles but pay out tons of "guaranteed" cash....I guess anything to avoid playing quality opponents on the road.
