The thing is... it's all well and good to contact Senators, but if you step back for a second - why would a US Senator stick their neck out to help a Canadian/Sudanese kid? If he were a constituent of theirs and was denied a visa into Canada, that's one thing. But a Canadian kid trying to get into the US?
Do you have any idea how many sob stories there are out there after the tightening up of immigration laws? Thousands... tens of thousands probably. There was a woman in Oregon from Norway who had lived here for like 40 years, had several kids, was very invovled in the community, etc. and was deported after they discovered a pot charge against her from the 70s. No, I'm not joking.
The federal government just doesn't mess around with immigration stuff anymore, for better or worse as someone already said.
