While I understand and appreciate the league RPI's importance, why should I hang hopes of U.S.F.'s advancing to the postseason on the possibility that Pepperdine or LMU are not going to spend their seasons getting mashed horribly on the court?
For me, I prefer to keep it simple: Win the league and leave no doubt. I'd rather keep our own destiny in our hands rather than leaving it to to our rivals who have very little reason to want to see us succeed--power rankings aside.
