I recently went through as a parent the 'USF freshmen" experience. The complete information vacuum by the athletic department and its supporters was blinding. Nothing could be seen the entire pre-welcome and the official welcome. These freshmen are youngsters just coming on campus looking to meet new people and enjoy the learning experience. That would have been the time to recruit. Winning is not what puts people in the seats for students, it's entertainment. Make it a 'happening' and the students will be there. I did not like the entertainment choice of last years MM, but the show was not for me, nor should it have been. As I recall my parents did not care for the Beatles, Stones or the Dead of my older siblings choice, never mind the Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols or Police of my preference. But todays USF students did like last years event and they showed up for MM. LL is giving us one of the reasons why kids did not continue to show up. Don't shoot the messenger. If you want the 'college' atmosphere for the games, let the college kids organize it and support their efforts. It is their show.
There must be something to schools that have a high academic profile. UCLA can't seem to fill their seats either even Bennie the king in charge now. The LA press regularly focuses on the UCLA apathy which of course Lavin caused. Then look at all the seats that show up to SC games.
