Hey guys, I just picked one up/ Didn't know what it was until I was able to identify it by a picture on the internet. Mine is a bit rough, but it is all there. A little bit of fiberglass work, a good scrubbing, install my new 10 HP Tecumseh, change oil in the HAXCO transmission and I think we will be rolling (and floating). I am having a real problem getting the left side shaft off. The right side slid right out after I removed the four bolts holding the carrier to the body. Am thinking that the left side must be a longer shaft from the transmission than the right side and that sprocket removal is the way to get the transmission out of the body. If you guys got any pointers before I embark on some exploratory mechanicing, I would really appreciate it.
On mine, the inside, left side drive sprocket is a bit chewed up. Will probably work, but would rather have a new one. Any info on a parts source would be great.
We intend to fix it up and just enjoy it. There is little to go wrong with it, it seems. Pretty basic engineering and absolutely no frills what-so-ever.

: Hello,
: my name is Marc and i´m from germany. I
: also search a Ramco Retriever in any
: condition. Did you find one which you dont
: want to buy? I collect everything about
: amphibious atvs. Brochures, manuals,
: pictures and the vehicles themself. I have a
: brochure about the ramco which i could scan
: and send you if you like.
: I want to open a museum for them one day (if
: i ever get enough money together) and
: meanwhile i write a book and make a video
: cd. There were about 100 different
: manufactures of aamphibious atvs and i now
: have described 62 of them but sadly it seems
: that some vehicles and any information about
: them is lost forever. I hope to complete the
: description from 80 of them, more should be
: nearly impossible. So if you have any
: informations about the retriever or others
: like the crocodile or the 6x6 iguana then
: please let me know.
: Greetings
: Marc
