The bowsprit on most of the Oriental boats were laminated mahogany. This is a good system as long as they stay sealed. You can get hefty pieces of mahogany from a good hardwood supply house. Most cities have one or more of these. If not you can look in good old boat or boat builder mags. They have mail order places that can help you get good wood. Check the bottom of you masts and your tanks. These boats had occasional problems with these items.
