Dennis,
I recently purchased a 1985 47'Vagabond. They're a very sturdy, seaworthy boat at it's best in winds over 20 knots. Beautiful under sail and lot's of comfort for a live aboard. No speed deamon but it will take you anywhere. Be sure to check the decks and prisms for leaks. The bowsprit can also have rot. Check all the chain plate bolts on the outer hull for rust. The chain plates themselves are glassed in on the inside and covered with woodwork, so if you have to change them it's a messy job. Good luck, Jack

THIS BOARD IS VERY GRACIOUSLY MODERATED BY JEANNE POCKEL WHO HAS BEEN CRUISING FOR 15 YEARS WITH HER HUSBAND PETER ON THEIR YACHT "WATERMELON". THANK YOU JEANNE.
