Hello George,
I enjoyed running SCEDA and will probably run a few of those next year....as far as ArmDrop...it was not that great of an experience ... while it was great for the track (attendance/car count)- a few of the racers I talked to all said they would not do it again. I think communication was the biggest problem...everybody paid $40 into the armdrop but it wasn't made clear until the drivers meeting that you may or may not be running for the cash- IE put in a bracket. Then when guys started asking questions- the head dude Rich Whatever his name is just said "don't worry about the rules" I make them up as I go...huh?? ... so with oil downs and car count we got two 'qualifying' passes. (some guys got 1).. but nobody knew what they were qualifying for?? It wasn't clear how they decided what brackets or index's they were going to run..and then made an annoucement to go to their tent if you wanted to see a print out of the up coming index/classes- and who was in....well that was a sheet of paper with everyones name on it and no explanation on who was in or out..you couldn't tell really who was in or out??...I found what looked like the 6.71 to 6.82 bracket...had arrows pointing down and up with lines bracketing 16 cars..at any rate.. I couldn't find my name anywhere on the paper... but I knew I ran 6.81...so I look closer (it was dark)I found my name crossed out with a pen and the guy below me who ran 6.82 I guess was allowed to run??? I asked the guys who posted the bracket what the deal was...and was told my exwife took me off the list??? After being at the track for approx. 12 hours and two passes.....not really what I wanted hear.. I asked again could they explain the brackets... I was told no...
So I guess bottom line was communication was not the greatest and I'm sure Rich was making stuff up as he went so the track didn't know what he was going to do....
It was very sad to hear of the passing of a fellow racer and that put in perspective that being at the track with friends and family was most important.
