My Hero was Cebel Turner and he too passed away at the age of 73 in 1997. 3 months before his grandaughter was born. My Dad was from Cincinnati and was in the 63rd engineers. My Dad never spoke much about his war time service. Probably brought back too many bad memories. He spent his basic training also in Ft. Lewis so it is possible they crossed paths. My Dad was my best friend, idol and hero. In my eyes he will always be Superman. I hope you get some responses to your inquiry. Most of the records of these men were wiped out in a fire in St. Louis in the 70's I believe. Good luck and keep trying.
